Fes was one of the places I’d been most looking forward to on this trip, and it didn’t disappoint.
After breakfast we set off, stopping first in the Jewish quarter before visiting a pottery workshop where we watched artisans hand-painting intricate designs onto ceramics. Then came the main event — the Medina of Fes. Walking through its winding alleyways felt like scenes out of Prince of Persia or Indiana Jones. The place is a labyrinth, with narrow lanes barely wide enough for two people, donkeys carrying goods squeezing past, and around every corner some new shop or stall or hidden courtyard. I could’ve spent days exploring and still not seen it all.
The whole group was really clicking by this point — full of nice and friendly people who were making this a genuinely pleasant experience. Most days were so packed that by 9pm we were all ready for bed, and Fes was no exception. We went out for dinner at a place called Marrakech Restaurant, after which we called it a night.
