Zanzibar Island, Tanzania

Zanzibar really was the ultimate last stop for the epic group tour through east Africa. I went out for an early morning coffee (and got absolutely soaked along the way, having to take my shoes off and walk barefoot around town). We took the shuttle bus over to our last stop, fun beach hotel in Jambiani. It was here that we spent our final days with the group. I had a nap on Friday afternoon, then we had drinks at Jetty bar, dinner at the hotel and had some drinks, finishing up with a few games of pool.

On Saturday itself we were up for the marine safari tour. It was a long day, and we all got burnt as the sun cream washed off in the water while we were snorkelling. We stopped off for snorkelling, visited a sand bank, then stopped on another island for lunch and to visit a tree. We were all burnt and exhausted on the way back, covering ourselves with towels as we couldn’t stand any more sun exposure.

There was a great end to the trip, for reasons I’ll leave outside of this blog. It was almost as if it was scripted, and someone came along and placed a cherry on top of what was already an epic trip. It was really satisfying.

And the trip isn’t even over yet. I’m flying to Mafia Island tonight for four nights, then I have one night in Dar before coming home. It feels like it just keeps going. It’s amazing how much I’ve done in such a short space of time, and it still has more experiences in store! I feel incredibly blessed for this experience.
